Weekly sanitation pickup schedule
Put your trash and recyclables out on the curb the night before.
Acceptable Trash
The carter will take the following “trash” on the second (2nd) garbage day of the week placed curbside by 6:00AM. Please limit to 5 items:
- Mattress/box spring
- Washers/dryers
- Pool heaters
- Hot water tanks
- Wall ovens
- Furniture
- Christmas trees
- Dishwashers
- Lawn mowers
- Snow blowers
- Window air-conditioners
- Trampoline
- Mirrors (must be taped up)
- Refrigerators and freezers (doors and freon must be removed)
- Gym equipment (broken down and manageable)
- Carpet (cut up into 4 feet in length, bundled and tied)
- Tires (car tires will only be picked up if you obtain a disposal sticker from Village Hall at a fee of $5.00 each tire. When purchasing new tires, you should leave old ones with the dealer to avoid this expense)
Unacceptable Trash
Materials left over from home improvements and remodeling projects and/or refuse from demolished or newly constructed buildings are not considered trash!
Please make arrangements with your contractor to remove these materials or make private arrangements with the Carter to remove any of the items listed below. When you call them to make arrangements, they will give you a price before they take anything, 845-353-5678, or you can take them to the Town dump in Hillburn. The carter will NOT accept any of the following trash:
- Bathtubs
- Toilets
- Cabinets
- Shower doors
- Windows
- Lumber
- Sinks
- Concrete
- Sheet rock
- Decking
- Paneling
- Railroad ties
- Water softeners
- Insulation pipes
- Built-in appliances
- Heating units
- Household improvement items
- Cast iron boilers
- Rocks
- Stones
- Brick
- Construction materials
- Empty paint cans (Fire Training Center)
